About the Program: Nevada Union Theatrical Dance is a public school performing arts program dedicated to the education of high school students in the technical, historical, and artistic traditions of theatrical dance. Classes are offered from beginning through advanced levels in ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and character. Students must be enrolled at Nevada Union High School or Dual Enrolled at Ghidotti or North Point Academy (schools within the Nevada Joint Union High School District).
Beginning Dance: No Audition Required. Any N.U. student grades 9-12 may sign up to enroll. Beginning classes are offered during 3rd and 5th periods. Performance opportunities are available but are not required. 4th Period is our “Beginning Dance for All Abilities” class, which partners students with moderate to severe special needs with general education peers. This accessible, inclusive course is designed to introduce beginning level dancers of all physical and cognitive abilities to a variety of movement styles. Students will experience a fun, supportive, and uplifting dance workout with a focus on connection and collaboration.
Intermediate Dance: Audition required. Class meets 6th period every other day. Required weekly rehearsal after-school on Wednesdays from 3:45-5:30 p.m. for the school year to prepare for performances. Some weekend rehearsals will also be required to work with guest choreographers.
